"My Father's Joy"

Day 13
Abigail was a very intelligent and dedicated woman. She saved her husband from being destroyed by the King David, because he refused to share food with the king's men. Abigail met King David with food and goods for the men, in hopes that her husband would not be destroyed. She explained that he was just like his name suggested, he was a fool. There was no reason for him not to feed the men. King David sees the actions of Abigail as being noble and a blessing from God, so he sends her home in peace. Eventually, her husband Nabal dies because he hears of the great work that his wife had done on his behalf. This action from Abigail struck his heart and he died. Nabal did not thank Abigail for saving him, nor did he ask for repentance for his actions. This gave King David the opportunity to send for the beautiful Abigail and ask her to be his wife.
Abigail was a woman full of wisdom, discretion, and beauty. She deserved to be loved and cherished by King David. All the riches and goods that Nabal had did not mean anything, because he was unwilling to share. He was unkind and showed no compassion to his wife. God was not pleased with his actions. God was not pleased with his sinful ways to the man of God!
Biblical Reference(s): 1 Samuel 25:3
